Health & Social Care
We want our students to have vocational skills to help them achieve in careers, both in and out of Health and Social Care, respectful discussions around sensitive topics and be positive role models within the local community as well in the wider world.
In the UK, the NHS employs 1.4 million people and social care employs 1.6 million people. This equates to 1 in 10 people in the UK working in Health and Social Care. At Putteridge High School we believe that students should get the chance to learn about the Health and Social Care sector in the UK, giving them the chance to study Human Growth and Development, the Care Values and Health and Wellbeing. Throughout the course, we give students the opportunity to discover the types of employment they could enter or further study they could undertake in the Health and Social Care sector.
Luton is a multicultural and diverse town, with health and social care resources which serve a variety of citizens, and we want this curriculum to reflect that. The Health and Social Care curriculum ensures that students can explore these vital services in our society.
